How We Work
In our view the aim of any consulting firm should be to add lasting value to its clients' operations that far exceeds their cost. Hiring a consulting firm is very often a last resort. Since the use of consultants is infrequent most companies are not very good at realizing maximum value from the effort and expense.
Companies always do the right thing after they have exhausted all other possibilities
There are a lot of clichés about consultants. Perhaps you have heard this one.
A consultant is someone who comes in, borrows your watch, tells you what time it is, keeps the watch, and charges an exorbitant fee.
This is generally meant to be derisive. Let’s look at it through the other end of the telescope. A consultant is almost always from outside the client organization, hence the “someone comes in” reference. Consultants learn about their clients by observing them and then they share their observations. That is the part where “We borrow your watch and tell you what time it is.” We retain what we have learned thus the “keep the watch” reference.
The exorbitant fee arises due to the fact that people seem to resent it when outsiders point out that which is right in front of them. We often find at the beginning of an engagement that everyone already knows exactly what the issues are and what needs to be done to resolve them.
Strategies International will help you learn from your own experience. More importantly, we will transfer the problem solving skill sets that will enable your organization to define your own path to substantially and sustainably higher performance. We will teach your people that asking the right questions will lead you to the right answers.
